What are permanent hair extensions?

Permanent hair extensions are done using pre-bonded hair which is either woven or fused onto your natural hair to make it thicker, fuller, and longer. Unlike clip in extensions that last for a short time, permanent hair extensions can last for six months to a year with appropriate care. Two types of techniques are used in permanent hair extensions – weaving and fusion.

Tape-in Hair Extensions

Tape-in extensions are the newest hair extension process on the market. They are wefts of hair that attach to small sections of your natural hair at the base of your scalp using double-sided strips of clear tape.

Tape-in Extensions are considered semi-permanent. They can last up to 8 weeks before you need to remove and re-apply them, but just like any other hair it depends on how well you take care of them and it also depends on your hair growth.

Since the tape used is flexible and see-though, your scalp is completely visible. There is no need for bulky braids or clips since the tape attaches right at the scalp. You can part your hair creatively or pull up your locks into partial or full up-dos without fear of the extensions showing.

Compared to other types of extensions, the application process for tape-in extensions is faster and more affordable.

Beaded Weft Permanent Hair Extensions

Beaded Weft hair extensions are a very good option for women who have normal to thick hair. They are fantastic for adding volume and length. These types of extensions do not use any heat, glue or tape to attach to your hair. These extensions are created either by machine or done meticulously by hand.

Machine wefted hair extensions are created by taking a bundle of extensions and sewing them together. The loose hair is fed through a triple-head sewing machine to add a reinforced stitch near the root of the individual strands of hair. After this is accomplished, the hair is then folded over and stitched again to create the final wefted extensions.

Hand wefted or hand weft hair extensions are created by taking individual strands of hair and tying them by hand to create the secure weft. This makes a very strong type of wefted hair extension and it is a thinner weft when compared to machine wefted hair extensions. The hand weft extension allows it to sit closer to the head, giving a less bulky look than the machine wefts. These are usually used as permanent hair extensions, although they could also be used to create temporary or clip-in hair extensions.
